I'm creating this GoFundme account to go toward financial assistance of Cassiano Oliveira and his family. All funds go directly to the Oliveira family account. I've known Cas (Cassiano)and his family for the better part of 10 years. There is no better friend to have.
Imagine you're 49 years old, maintain a healthy diet and stay physically active. Then imagine you're told you have colon cancer.
April 5 2023 Is the day Cas's life turned upside down and any signs of good luck has completely eluded him in this last year.
However, in true Cassiano fashion he has a remarkably upbeat outlook on life regardless of what challenges have been thrown at him. But that's just Cassiano being Cassiano. He's always an upbeat guy.
Cas was determined to overcome this cancer and not let it beat him. He endured the preliminary radiation/chemo treatments to shrink the cancer maintaining his optimist outlook.
The plan was to attack the cancer with treatment then surgery to remove it from the colon. Cas was so excited to get the surgery and everything was looking like this cancer was soon to be history.
Then the devastating news from the doctor. The cancer has spread to your liver and lungs. This type of news would of crippled most to give up but not Cas. He told me "just another bump in the road". He was only focused on the next step toward beating this cancer.
Day of surgery comes and Cas gets a colostomy bag but no surgery on the liver. Cas would need a second surgery to address the liver. Again Cas was not sweating it and explaining to me they can cut out a large portion of the liver and still survive. (an unwavering resolve to be admired for sure)
February 19 2024. Test results. Doctors tell him the cancer has spread rapidly and there is no further surgeries they can do. You can do some Chemo to prolong your life. However, you should get your affairs in order.
All the while Cas has been fighting this cancer it has also caused him to have to close his cell phone store business. Closing the store has taken a financial and mental toll on an already beaten down Cas. Forcing himself to continue to remain open until it was just physically impossible for him to continue . A few months before having to close the store, due to his deteriorating health, his store was vandalized. A costly commercial size front window was shattered. Then to add more insult to injury on another occasion his store was burglarized. Two costly financial blows to an already fragile financial situation.
Cassiano is still optimistic and he's fighting the good fight. He's not giving up but he needs financial help. Needless to say he has endured a lot in the last year. Cassiano is a very proud man and after some convincing he agreed to allow me to start this page for him.
On behalf of Cassiano and his wife and daughter any help would be greatly appreciated in their time of need.
