Caspian Medical Fund

Ben and I have been truly blessed by the outpouring of love and support for our sweet Caspian. We were asked by several people to create a GoFundMe so that they could contribute to the medical bills. After much thought and prayer, we decided to do so and set the goal at the expected out-of-pocket cost of Caspian's next surgery. God has been supplying our needs in this whole process in some amazing ways, so please treat this fund as a bucket to make giving available, not as an ask.

Caspian's Story: In October, we welcomed a beautiful baby boy named Caspian to our family. In the hours following his birth, we learned that he had been born with a previously undetected heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot. Tetralogy of Fallot requires a series of open-heart surgeries to repair, including at least one within the first year. Caspian was rushed to the Niswonger NICU where he stayed for 6 days. He was then sent home to eat and grow big and strong for surgery. However, after 13 days at home, he began to have Tetralogy spells, which are low oxygen spells, and was turning blue. We rushed him back to Niswonger where they tried to stabilize him for 2 days. On day 2, the decision was made to send him to the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital Cardiology unit by ambulance that evening. At the time, we were told we would probably be down there 2 or 3 days while they decided a course of action. On day 2 at Vanderbilt, the decision was made that Caspian needed immediate surgery the next day, a procedure to place a BT Shunt. Caspian spent a total of 30 days in the hospital for the surgery and recovery and then was required to stay in Nashville for another week. The hope is that this procedure will buy us time so that we can wait until he is 6-8 months old for the next open-heart surgery which, if fully successful, will be his last for several years.
