Casket’s Surgery (save his leg!)
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Rhiannon, and I’m the proud (if exhausted) Cat Mom of Casket. He’s an almost-two-year old black cat who has become the world’s most expensive rescue cat. We adopted him in Athabasca in 2023, and now that we’ve moved back home to Calgary, he’s managed to hurt himself bad enough to need surgery.
As it stands, the options we have before us are:
- a $5000+ surgery to place pins and a plate in his rear left leg to bring the bones together, and let him continue to be the crazy, silly, loving, goofy menace we know and adore, or,
- a $3000+ surgery to amputate his rear leg to let him live pain-free (but perhaps at a slower pace than he’s used to).
I have just recently lost my job and am currently living on EI while I finish my studies to be a licenced funeral director and embalmer- I very much want to be someone who helps and supports people in a terrible time in their life, and that is my top goal, even though it’s harder to reach now with the loss of my income. My partner has had to take on the responsibilities of our rent and bills, and is himself in school for an apprenticeship in a trade, so this expense truly could not come at a worse time for us, financially.
Casket is the cat that even people who hate cats, love. He plays fetch, he’s constantly talking to us, he loves to chase bugs to gently tap them with his paw because he doesn’t know how to kill them. He sleeps in bed with us every night, he cuddles constantly, he loves to nap on your chest with his head tucked under your jaw so he knows he’s safe and protected. He’s just completely unaware of his clumsiness or any way to prevent it- and most of the time it’s cute. This time it’s expensive.
we really need your help. any help. We simply cannot afford either option, and the idea of surrendering him is heartbreaking. Any little bit would be incredible and we’d be so grateful. Even just sharing out would be amazing.
if you want to see more of our boy Casket, you can find him at @casketthecat on Instagram and TikTok too.
thank you!
