Ralph Doxey (Bond# 195) was recently diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. ALS is a progressive, debilitating condition whereby the muscles in the body rapidly deteriorate. There is no known cure and only limited treatment is available. Though his diagnosis came recently, Ralph has been feeling the effects of ALS since early 2013. His speech has already been significantly affected, as well some motor skills.
Ralph was initiated in the Mississippi Beta Chapter of Phi Delta Theta on January 13, 2000. His father, former state senator Ralph Doxey, Sr. is member of the Mississippi Alpha (Ole Miss) chapter of Phi Delta Theta, as was his late grandfather Wall Doxey, who served as both a U.S. Representative and U.S. Senator and is namesake of Wall Doxey State Park. A native of Holly Springs, Ralph is the son of Ralph and Jean Doxey, he is a graduate of Marshall Academy and currently resides in Tupelo with his wife, Megan and thier daughter, Harper.
Every year, Mississippi State's Phi Delta Theta chapter hosts an event called Casino Royal. At the event actives, alumni, families, and friends come to Starkville to support our brother Ralph. The event is a casino-themed fundraiser at The Mill Conference Center in Starkville. The event will take place on April 29th. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit Ralph and Megan as their expenses related to his condition are significant.
