Cash for Stash! Help Pistachio with medical bills
Pistachio, Washburn Rural High School's therapy dog, and beloved pet of Matthew and Juliet Swedlund has been diagnosed with severely enlarged lymph nodes in her digestive track.
Please consider a donation if able. Stash is only 2 years old and the medical care thus far and those that will accrue are expensive and we are trying everything we can to help Stash get well.
Matt applied to KSDS Assistance Dogs. Inc to provide a therapy dog for his program and after waiting 3 years on the waiting list, Pistachio's journey led her to the Swedlund's. She spends her days working with Matt, Washburn Rural High School's social worker, offering support and love when or where ever needed. She brings smiles to hundreds of children's faces each day and creates a positive, nurturing environment for students who may need a calming presence during difficult times. She spends her night's with her human sisters, Tennessee and Stella, and her canine brothers.
Stash began having symptoms 8/3/2021 and luckily Juliet and Matt where quick to seek help. Originally diagnosed with a terrible (and pricey) stomach bug, Stash experienced some improvement before Monday when her symptoms came back severe. Further test showed the enlarged lymph nodes and need for exploratory surgery which is scheduled on Thursday 8/12/2021 to determine if it is lymphoma, as suspected by her Veterinarian. After surgery is complete, further treatment options will be explored.
