Casey Staniszewski's Medical Fund +

On Monday, July 9th, the unimaginable happened.  Casey drowned in 60 feet of water while free diving off Jupiter Inlet in what's known in the diving world as a "shallow water blackout".   Fortunately, his good friend and dive partner Matt realized that too much time had passed on Casey's dive, and he was able to bring him up to the surface, somehow get him into the boat and dial 911.  He immediately started CPR.  His actions, and those of PBSO Corporal Joe Pollock who arrived at the boat within 7 minutes of receiving the call, were the first miracles that resulted in Casey's surviving the blackout, which has claimed so many lives in the past.  Palm Beach County Fire Rescue met them at Jupiter Inlet and took over, transporting him to St. Marys Medical Center, where the ER trauma team began the task of clearing his lungs and stabilizing him.  Casey spent six days at St. Marys, five of those in ICU.  He has not only survived the accident, he has almost fully recovered and has a new appreciation for his life.  We have since been told by several first responders that they can count on one hand the number of people that come through this type of event without lasting injury.

As you can imagine, an ambulance ride,  6 days in the hospital (5 in the Critical Care Unit), 4 medical specialist, and the numerous CT scans, MRI's, brain scans and continuing recovery, are going to cost the Staniszewski family a small fortune in out of pocket medical bills in the very near future.

We are creating this Go Fund Me for all of our friends and family who have so generously reached out to us to ask how they can help.  In addition to helping with Casey's medical bills, the family has decided to give a portion (15%) of all funds raised to the incredible people who helped Casey make it - Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, Palm Beach Fire Rescue, and St. Mary's Medical Center.  There is no way we can ever repay everyone involved for all they did, but we would like to give back in whatever way we can.

Thank you all so much for all the love, prayers, and support throughout this ordeal. We are all so overwhelmed, blessed, and thankful for you all.
