Dear Friends,
Joseph (Casey) Savarese and his family have been friends and neighbors of mine for 30 + years.
In early August, Casey was diagnosed with Stage 3 Advanced Colon Cancer. Casey completed one round of chemotherapy, and his second round of chemo was set for the end of August.
A week before his second round of chemo, things took an unexpected turn when Casey was diagnosed with a life-threatening gangrene infection. His infection was aggressive and spread quickly. Within hours of his gangrene diagnosis, He was transported to UTMB in Galveston for immediate surgery.
Over the last 3 weeks, Casey has undergone 7 surgeries to treat his infection.
Fortunately, the gangrene has shown much improvement, and he is predicted to leave UTMB Galveston in a few weeks. Once released from the hospital, he will spend about 3-4 weeks in a rehabilitation center to recover and regain his strength to continue his chemotherapy and fight against cancer.
Due to the circumstances, Casey is unable to work, and his wife, Sandy, has cut back on working to be by Casey’s side. Unfortunately, Casey and Sandy suffer financially due to the many medical expenses and treatments.
Casey’s family, friends and community know him as charismatic, extremely creative, kind, caring, and always going above and beyond in everything he does. Casey has a long road ahead of him but is determined to fight through regardless.
Any contribution or share to this page is greatly appreciated and will immensely alleviate some of the financial stress for Casey and Sandy.
Thank you for everyone’s love and support.
