Casey Lane's Recovery
Donation protected
This is for my niece, Casey Lane. A beautiful person inside and out. She is married to her husband, Jordan and has two children, Reagan and Peyton. She and her husband were expecting their first child together, a girl they named Karsyn, in May.
She started having stomach pain, vomiting and nausea on February 13th. It became so bad she went to the hospital on February 14th and was admitted, stayed overnight. They did an MRI and ultrasound but could not find the cause. She was sent home but still had the symptoms. A few days later as the symptoms continued and she was transported to Greenville Hospital in North Carolina. That Friday, February 19th, the pain was excruciating and she felt her stomach was filling up with fluid. She was rushed to emergency surgery so the doctors could try to put a camera down to see what was going on. A laparoscopic incision was made and fluid, bile fluid, gushed out of her. She had 9 liters of fluid in her abdominal cavity. At that point the doctors decided to open her up completely only to find her intestines twisted as well as her stomach which was also perforated. At that point it was decided, since she was under anesthesia for so long and more surgery was needed, the doctors decided to decided to deliver her baby girl, Karsyn, at 30 weeks. Karsyn was born not breathing, however they worked on her and revived her. She was doing okay for a bit, but she started going down hill, organs started failing. It was just too soon and too much trauma for baby Karsyn. She passed away after 7 seven hours. Casey went into septic shock and her numbers were declining. Monday February 22nd, the doctors operated on her so they could fix her intestines to a normal position, took part of intestines to create a new stomach. She has 52 staples and an 18 inch incision.
She will in the hospital for about a week more and then will be sent home. The road to recovery will be a long and difficult one. With her new stomach, she will not be able to eat a whole lot at one time. Not only is she recovering from this horrific surgery but mourning the loss of her baby that they were so excited to meet and watch grow up.
If you can donate to help with the medical expenses, as they will be astronomical, it would be greatly appreciated and ease some burden off of this young couple's shoulders. I did not go into the graphic detail of everything but just know this young lady fought for her life and was in very critical condition. Her family is with her, mom, dad, sister and brother. Her extended family is praying constantly for her recovery.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
