Hi everyone, this is Casey and Lisa. This is a very hard and humbling decision we made to create a GoFundMe for our legal expenses. We know many of you know our difficulties with Eric, Lisa's brother. Long story short...Despite Lisa's parents telling Lisa they didn't trust Eric to take care of himself or his finances, they left the family house solely to Eric. Instead of selling the house and all of us moving up to Washington, we had to cut our losses and basically forfeit all the money we put into the house for 9 years. Without Eric, the 3 of us moved to Washington. We, Lisa especially felt absolutely betrayed by her brother choosing a house over their relationship. But, we moved on. Eric didn't and in March of 2022, we were served with papers informing us that we were being sued by Eric for no less than a million dollars for a variety of false accusations. We were completely flattened emotionally by this turn of events. We found a lawyer who was recommended and used all of our savings, naively believing that it would be over quickly. We believe that Eric has brought the suit against us because he cannot afford to maintain the house without us paying all of his bills which is what we did. We paid for all repairs, all utilities, all food, t.p paper towels etc. One of the reasons why we moved was because we couldn't afford to maintain the house ourselves. We're also pretty sure he is being manipulated by someone who hopes to gain something which has happened before which is why Lisa's parents wanted her to look out for her brother.

We had a long tearful conversation with our lawyers in the fall who told us that we, of course, had to see this thru, had to find the money to see it thru, or else the fallout would adversely affect us for the rest of our lives. We were desperately trying to find a way to deal with this and our lawyer (we really like our guy) was being very blunt and truthful.

This is what leads us to our GoFundMe. We need help. We have nowhere else to turn. This is a very hard thing to do and even writing this has been so hard. We've started, stopped, thought maybe we can figure out something but the truth is we have no where else to turn. We humbly ask for your help paying these legal expenses so we can win our case and move on and live our lives without this threat hanging over our heads every day, hour, and minute of our lives.
