Bring Casa Brewja to life

Donation protected
If you’re reading this as you wait for your coffee, here’s the short of what we have brewing:

CASA BREWJA will bring coffee, crystals, plantitas, and a new space to call home within the Five Points region of Denver. It is built by community, FOR community - and we need your help to fully steep the last big elements before opening the doors to our beautiful community! This dream was started with humble beginnings and a commitment to fight gentrification.

Funds you share with us will be used for final touches on building upgrades and the heavy costs of commercial cafe equipment that will make your soon-to-be favorite cafecito :)

If everyone in our social networks made a $10 offering, we’d open next week!
HELP US HELP YOU! :-D

Intentional and loving, Casa Brewja will be a cafe, a retail shop, a holistic wellness center, and a safe space to work, chat, heal, and manifest your deepest desires.

We are BIPOC.
We are Denver Natives.
We are artists, activists, parents, LGBTQ+, indigenous, agents of change.
WE, are Five Points.

Please give as generously as is safe for you to do so. And please do share this with any of your good people who support a good anti-gentrification effort. Casa Brewja is about community, built by community, for community.

WHAT?!
Casa Brewja is the result of many visions and manifestations aligning in just the right timing. It is steeped with deep intention, integrity, and desire to serve community.
When the previous tenant, our beloved Alchemy Ritual Goods, outgrew the space there were a lot of questions about what would become of the building which had become such an anchor in the Five Points / Curtis Park neighborhood. After all, this space we had all grown to love had nourished and held so many of us for nearly 6 years! The one thing we knew for sure: this space needed to remain OURS.

The vision is to create a space within our city that feels like home. A space that is both healing and safe for our community. Part coffee shop, part retail store, part holistic wellness treatment space, and in a second phase - a new space for community gatherings, readings, performances, gardening, etc.

Casa Brewja will center intention - connection - and the cultural ritual around coffee. Beyond the cup, it will be a curated experience. There are so many exciting details planned that we can’t wait to share with you, but we need to finish the building and purchasing of equipment first. That’s where you come in :)

HOW!?
Like we said, Casa Brewja is sitting on a humble foundation of big love and hard hustle!
As always, when you start a project more things come up - it takes longer - it costs a lot more, and you sleep a lot less. This opportunity to take over after Alchemy moved happened very quickly and in a blink of an eye we were transforming the space and breathing new life into it.
In the last 6 weeks, these walls have seen new paint from floor to ceiling, new (safe!) electrical throughout, plumbing fixes, adding heat to the back room (which will be Holistic treatment space!), flooring, patching, trimming, counters, shelving, partial furnishings, AND we refurbished the bathroom (which is shared with other building tenants).
The reality is: We have exhausted personal resources to bring this to life in the timeline we had hoped.

We’ve saved a lot by doing the work ourselves! The sweat equity in this project is already a community effort, but all have needed to continue our regular jobs + family responsibilities. In the middle of it all, our family was struck with illness, and an elder suffered a heart attack. As of late, lots of energy has needed to be redirected to healing. So, there is still more work to finish that we will need to hire out, as well as equipment that still needs to be purchased.

If everyone in our social networks made a $10 offering we could open next week! We understand not everyone will be able to do that, and we hope that some of you will be in a place that you’re willing to offer more :)

Sharing this page will also help tremendously!

WHO?!
The creatrix curating your experience at Casa Brewja is Denver’s own, Charmaine Elisa.

She has spent countless hours investing heart and soul into the details that will make your soul sing each time you walk through that turquoise door! She is calling us in, to remember, to enjoy, to slow down, to tap back into the ritual of cafecito. Charmaine is asking us to redefine what it means to enjoy our coffee and to (re)connect to ourselves. (More details on how this will happen as we get closer to opening!)

Charmaine’s family has been part of the fabric of Denver’s East Side for generations. She takes great pride in creating a safe space for community to feel right at home, close to home.

She has been a holistic wellness practitioner, running her own private practice for nearly 15 years. She has dedicated 20% of her work to accessible offerings in the form of donation-based clinics, sliding scale clinics, or teaching clinics, throughout her career. For the last 5 years, those donation-based clinics were held at Alchemy Ritual Goods (the previous tenant in the Casa Brewja building).

Charmaine is a mom of high-school aged kiddos and is very excited to be curating a space that is welcoming and nurturing for folks of all ages. We are so grateful and excited to share this journey with you and cannot wait to continue building and creating together soon!
