I created this page on behalf of my nephew and sister. Please see my sister's story below:
My 28-year-old Son, Casimir (Cas) was recently diagnosed with stage IV Ewing's Sarcoma Cancer. He is a father of two sons ages 9 and 5, and a 2 ½-year-old daughter.
Ewing’s Sarcoma is a rare and aggressive cancer that can grow in your bones or the soft tissue around your bones. It shows up slightly more in white males but usually between the ages of 10 and 20 and is uncommon to acquire as an adult. It is still unclear what causes Ewing Sarcoma but has been ruled out as hereditary cancer and research has ruled out its relationship to radiation, chemicals, or other environmental causes.
Cas first noticed something was wrong when a small lump on the back of his neck grew quickly to the size of a baseball. It caused him great unbearable pain, physical limitations and general movement, which in turn has prevented him from being able to work. This cancer is treatable, but not curable and took several tests, including an MRI, Biopsy, blood work, when finally given his diagnosis.
Treatment began soon after, and so far, had his first round of radiation and chemo and that is when he was introduced to the reality of debilitating medical expenses which will continue to grow.
His diagnosis came at a time when his focus was completely on his children, watching them grow, going to work every day with eager anticipation to return home so he could spend time with them. Ewing Sarcoma has limited his ability to participate in normal activities; this includes picking up and holding his kids and some playtime activities with them.
Cas’ initial reaction to his diagnosis, was concern for others and how they would accept it. He has already taken this demon by the horns. We are extremely proud of his bravery and want to help make him as comfortable as possible while he fights his battle ahead.
The news has been very overwhelming for the entire family, many tears and a great deal of fear. The next several months will be a very difficult and emotional time for Cas, myself, his father and the rest of the family. At this time, we are asking for your prayers and if you can find it in your heart to make a donation to help with the cost of his treatment, mobility devices, prescriptions and to help supplement his loss of income so he can continue to care for his children. Any donation, regardless of amount, would help and is greatly appreciated by the entire family, especially Cas.
