Cas could use some help.

My poor boy Cas is very sick and we're trying to figure out what is wrong with him.

This might be a long one.

To begin with, on October 24th, I brought Cas to his regular vet because he had two lesions on his forehead and he was throwing up. My concerns were dismissed and she said that his wounds were from fighting with our other cat (even that's literally impossible and I said that) but Cas went home with some topical ointment and the throwing up stopped.

He didn't seem to be getting any better than after he stopped throwing up. He kept hiding, but he was eating and drinking and using the litter box.

Fast forward to Nov. 3rd. I returned home from work to find him lying on the floor, completely flat, head down and everything. I picked him up and set him on the couch and he returned to that position. Worried, I picked him up again and he vocalized so I quickly set him back down. I touched his ears and he complained and I decided to bring him to the vet ER.

At the ER they said his vital signs were fine but wanted to take some tests and it would all equal to about $800.00. I had opened a credit care line, but it only covered $500.00, but I forwent a bill and used that money to pay. They didn't find anything. So they gave me some antibiotics and sent me home.

That night Cas was really amped up. Walking in circles and eating a lot and I felt relaxed. The next morning he seemed okay still and he took his medicine fine, too.

Then this morning on Nov. 5th, I found him lying under the couch, pressed completely flat again, his breathing spiked. I pulled him out and set him on the bed where he went flat again. Worried, I brought him to me and he peed all over me, which he NEVER does.

So I brought him back to the vet. A new vet saw him and wanted to do tests with a low cost of around $1300 and a high cost over $2000. I'd just spent all the money the night before on the tests. And the second vet didn't even understand what the first one wrote down. So it made me feel like I'd used all my money for nothing.

Unfortunately, since I'd used all my money, I couldn't afford any more testing there. I paid for a test to see if he had feline leukemia or aids, but it turned out negative, leaving the vet miffed. His vitals were fine, but something is wrong with him. I don't get it, either.

Eventually she'd concluded that he had severe back pain as he vocalized and tensed when she touched his back. She thinks that he might have a slipped disc which could fix itself with cage rest, or perhaps require surgery if he doesn't regain strength in his legs. The other thing was lymphoma, but since Cas is only six years old, she said it wasn't her main concern, however there's still a chance for that, and it still needs to be tested.

So I brought Cas home after paying another $500, which I could only afford because my father gave me what little money he had and I used the money I was supposed to pay my car payment with. As of now... I have no extra money left. I'm trying to find ways to make money. Seeing if I can do any extra freelance writer things.

But Cas needs to get the rest of the test done and see his normal vet next week, or sooner if he doesn't get better. I want to get all the tests done as soon as possible, especially so I know if we need to prepare money for surgery on top of a biopsy of the wounds on his forehead and the visits to the specialists.

I could use any help I could get. I've spent $1300 so far and have emptied my bank account. I am from an extremely low-income family so I can't get familial help. I want to get him the help he needs. He's been my little angel since 2012. He's even named after one certain angel.

The amount I've put up to raise toward is just based off the estimates the vet gave me, since she thinks I should do all of what is on the list. As I've said, I'm also looking for other ways to make money. I might have to take it one step at a time, but eventually I want him to have all the testing he can get and figure this out.

If on the off chance the other tests come to figure out it's just a slipped disc that can be fixed at home and I have extra donations, I'll be donating it to the local homeless cat shelter who work tirelessly to save pets and strays who need it.

For now he's staying confined to a crate to see if it'll help his back from hurting ): He's still very out of it from the sedation at the vet today.
