As many of you know, our good friend Cary was recently involved in a serious cycling accident and is currently recovering in the hospital in London. The injuries are life-altering, and the road ahead is significant—but there is genuine reason for optimism. And if there is anyone with the grit, the engine, and the sheer determination to tackle a brutal, relentless climb, it is Cary.

From his days as an accomplished bike racer to tackling massive gravel routes across the globe, Cary has never shied away from a challenge. He has achieved all of this while being a devoted husband and father and building and running a successful business. Those who know him admire his determination on the bike, but also the warmth, generosity and energy he brings to every part of his life. Now, as he faces his biggest physical challenge yet, it’s our turn—his global peloton of family, friends, colleagues and fellow cyclists—to ride alongside him.

Why We Are Raising Funds: The Rehab Gap
We are setting up this fund specifically to cover the costs of intensive private rehabilitation.
The UK’s NHS is world-class, and their acute emergency care and surgical teams have been absolutely incredible in stabilizing Cary. However, when it comes to post-acute, outpatient rehabilitation, the public system is stretched. It often involves long waitlists and limited contact hours (sometimes just 1 to 2 hours a week).

For an elite athlete like Cary, recovery thrives on high-repetition, daily work. To maximize his recovery trajectory, he needs:
  • Zero Downtime: The ability to begin intensive private therapy immediately upon hospital discharge without waiting for community referrals.
  • High Frequency: Daily, high-intensity work rather than being bound to standard public discharge criteria.
  • Specialized Technology: Access to private clinics equipped with the latest advanced rehabilitation tools and specialized neurological/orthopedic care.

What Your Donation Funds:
Every contribution goes directly toward giving Cary the highest level of care possible. If you’d like to sponsor a specific milestone in his recovery, here is an idea of what your support provides:
  • £100 / $190 — Funds one targeted outpatient session with a private specialist (physio, occupational therapy, or soft-tissue work).
  • £300 / $565 — Sponsors a weekly block of specialized therapy, such as hydrotherapy and mobility equipment access.
  • £750 / $1,400 — Covers one full week of intensive outpatient rehab, keeping his momentum going once he leaves the hospital.
  • £2,500 / $4,700 — Contributes toward adaptive tech, specialized mobility aids, or necessary home alterations for his flat.
  • £3,500 / $6,500 —Custom Specialist Work Chair (Work & Active Rehab)
  • £5,000+/ $9,500+ — Helps fund a dedicated residential or clinic rehab block, giving Cary access to immersive, world-class recovery facilities.

How Else You Can Support
Cary is conscious, has his tablet, and is deeply moved by the support he’s already receiving. You can send messages or videos to the contacts here and they will be forwarded to Chritianne who will make sure Cary sees them when he is able.

Join the Strava Group: We’ve created a group called Miles for Cary. Dedicate your rides with the hashtag #MilesForCary, and share photos, videos, and old racing memories. He is checking in directly to read your posts.

A Note on Boundaries: Because focusing on recovery takes massive energy, please refrain from asking about his specific medical status or prognosis. Cary will share updates himself, strictly on his own terms. Let’s flood his feeds with good energy, encouragement, and cycling stoke.

Thank you to everyone around the world who has reached out. The cycling community always looks out for its own. Let’s help Cary get back to doing what he loves.

All funds raised with go directly to Cary's wife, Christianne. Chris Cavacuiti and Andrew Stewart (Cary's business partners and friends) will be overseeing the gofundme page and will respond to any questions you may have about fundraising or how you can help. Chris and Andrew are in Canada but the page is based in the UK so all funds will reach Cary and Christianne in pounds.
