Cary Grove Mural Restoration

Donation protected

December of 1985, Cary Grove High School involved Timm Etters  in a community service project that literally launched his career as a mural painter.Inspired by a blend of some amazing art teachers in his life, some former graduates of CG, and the early days of the Hip Hop culture; Timm started his company at the age of 16 while recovering from cancer in March of '85.

With the guidance of a local policeman and the principal at that time, Timm was given the task and privilege of creating a mural in CG's cafeteria after being caught writing graffiti in town. The design of the mural was also reconfigured to become the 1986 CG Yearbook cover, Cary Grove's first full color yearbook cover and Timm's first airbrushed illustration.

The mural at school soon became the groundwork for his company that specializes in painting murals in schools, working with students, and teaching his craft. Timm has shared his talents with hundreds of thousands of students in the Chicagoland suburbs and surrounding states over the last 30 years.

Well, here we are approaching December of 2015, exactly 3 decades after the original mural was painted and it needs some serious restoration. For many years, Timm has envisioned what he would enhance if ever given the chance to re-paint that 1st of over 300 career murals.

There is an exciting opportunity to restore & enhance the mural while offering a new generation of young artists a chance to join him on the project. Working closely with the Art Department, it will be determined which students will have the opportunity to paint with Timm and restore the mural for another 30 years of CG students and faculty to enjoy.

Would you join Cary Grove High School in the 2015 Mural Restoration Project?

Your support will allow for another generation of students, staff and faculty to enjoy a true work of art.
Cary Grove has given a green light on the project and now we need your help to make it happen. Your financial support will help to not only strip, clean, prime and re-paint the mural on the wall, but also to financially back the educational & mentoring aspect as well.

Restoring the mural will be a large task but won't mean anything unless the students are taught the history behind it, the life of artist who painted it, and the inspirational story that followed it...

Thank you in advance for your contributions and PLEASE SHARE THIS on your page to help spread the word!!

Please note: Any money collected ABOVE & BEYOND the target goal will be issued as Fine Art Scholarships at the end of the 2015-16 school year.
