Cary Lane Commercial Rent & Employee Relief Fund

Donazione protetta

We need you more than ever to help keep Cary Lane alive.

San Francisco is special because of its one-of-a-kind stores, forward-thinking people, and most importantly, community (aka you). Cary Lane isn't your average clothing store. It’s a unique shopping experience offering samples and overstock for those (both women and men) that want brand-new, designer clothing at a discounted price. At the moment, our government (and some landlords) are making very little strides to help small businesses stay afloat, but it’s only a matter of time before our 20 employees will be without their income and Cary Lane will have to permanently close down all 3 locations and functioning warehouse.

Cary LaScala (owner) used to be a buyer for department stores, and over the past 18 years, has maintained tight partnerships with coveted brands like Free People, Gentle Fawn, BB Dakota, Ben Sherman, Barbour, Selected Homme, and many more. In 2008, Cary opened his first store in Noe Valley and then the recession hit. With a lot of hard work and support from friends and loyal customers, he survived and moved to a basement location in Hayes Valley. This space set the tone for smart shoppers that loved looking good without breaking the bank. In eleven years, he has opened up 2 more locations, recently moved the flagship store to a larger space on Haight Street (See recent write-up here ), and added a huge warehouse for receiving and processing all inventory.

Before the shelter-in-place action took effect, Cary Lane was beginning to see its best year in healthy, consistent business growth and was in prime position to provide more opportunities for all current employees and soon-to-be new hires. Once we got word of the unpredictable nature of this global health crisis, we were ordered to shut down operations, which prevented our ability to generate any revenue for months to come. (See recent write-up here )

At this time, our monthly commercial rent for 3 storefronts and warehouse in San Francisco is over $25k and payroll alone is over $70k. Needless to say our savings is rapidly depleting given our current situation. Your donations will be used to offset rent and help our loyal employees get through these scary, unprecedented times, so we can return to work as soon as we’re given the green light from officials. Without our amazing customers, we would be nothing. We are anxiously waiting to pick up where we left off so we can continue to offer the best deals on clothing in town!
