Cary and Carrie Christenson Family

We call them, Mr. and Mrs., but they aren’t newlyweds..

For the last several weeks they’ve been in and out of the hospital. AFIB, heart cath… each time they were sent home with a hope that this would be the time that things would be different. That they would be on the road to recovery. After all, Christmas is just around the corner. Just enough time for the healing to begin.

Resting at home after a heart procedure the day before, Cary Christenson, Marine veteran, collapsed in his home, unable to find the words he so desperately wanted to say.

He was having a massive stroke.

His wife Carrie, also a Marine Veteran, called the unit and within a very long 90 minutes, they were on their way via medical airplane from rural Nebraska to a Denver, Colorado hospital that could better serve his emergency.

There had been a terrible blizzard covering western Nebraska and eastern Colorado and the roads were closed and wind gusts were over 40mph. Their children, three adult daughters, and a teenage son, mostly living in eastern Nebraska, forged their way, taking a longer southern route to Denver, knowing that his situation was critical. And still is.

It was December 16, 2022 and their lives, their holiday plans, the exhausting travel …. It has all been changed.

Cary and Carrie will be in Denver for quite some time. Their Christmas plans with their family will be altered, traditions this year may be missed, and the expenses will pile up.

They need our help.

The effort spent here from friends near and far, old and new, will help the Christenson’s with medical expenses, missed work, travel, and all of the other occurrences that we all know add up in a hurry. We are asking for anything you can spare…from $10-$1000. Anything will help and the money will be a wonderful assistance… something the Christenson’s would never ask for themselves. It will give them hope, it will ease their burdens, but most importantly, it will feel their hearts with love and hope.

For decades, this family has dedicated their lives to serving our community. Whether it was through their very active lives in the North Platte Jaycees, or other community events, (there are way too many to list) they have lived by the words of the JC creed “service to humanity is the best work of life.”
Join us in returning the favor.

This family needs us.

We need you.

On behalf of the Christenson family, and from the bottom of our hearts…
We are grateful.
Thank you.
