Hi! My 12-year-old son Carter was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer called Ewing Sarcoma.
Carter just completed 3 months of intense chemotherapy. On Monday (2/16/26) he underwent a major surgery where the top portion of his femur was removed and replaced with a titanium rod (a partial hip replacement surgery). He is now learning how to walk again and, soon, will begin another 4 months of chemotherapy as a precaution to ensure the cancer is fully gone. If all goes as planned, his treatment should be complete by the beginning of summer.
This GoFundMe is solely to help make Carter’s dream of owning a fishing boat a reality.
Fishing has always been Carter’s happy place. Boats, water, and fishing have been his biggest passions for as long as I can remember. Throughout this journey, the idea of getting back out on the water has given him something to hold onto on the hardest days. Having his own boat represents freedom, healing, and a sense of normalcy after everything he’s been through.
I do want to be very clear — this fundraiser is just for Carter to get a boat. It’s meant to be something fun and hopeful. If you are struggling yourself or there are more pressing fundraisers on your heart, please give to those first. Truly.
This was actually Carter’s idea for me to put together (lol). So many people have generously sent him gifts from his Amazon wishlist, and we thought this might be a fun way to help him work toward his biggest dream — owning his own fishing boat.
Funds raised will go directly toward Carter and whatever boat he ultimately decides on and can afford. His mind changes daily about what his “perfect” boat looks like — but he still has four more months of chemo ahead, so there’s no rush to decide. He’s just hopeful to be out on the water by summer.
We are incredibly grateful for the support, prayers, and kindness surrounding our family.
Thank you for being part of Carter’s story.
