Carter’s heart transplant journey

Hello,

My name is Kayla Bowen, I am Brian Julson’s sister and Carter’s aunt.

As you probably already know, Carter will need a heart transplant and is on the heart transplant list awaiting a heart that will match. This is a complicated process and could take quite some time. Not only as Carter awaits the transplant but also the recovery process and needing to be re-located in Rochester for several months following his transplant.

We have had a lot of people reach out to us asking how they can help. My brother and his family would like to avoid asking for help but as a nurse in healthcare, I know they will need it both emotionally and financially, especially as they move closer to transplant time and post operative care. Living a few hours away from Rochester, there are many expenses with traveling and lodging. This may also lead to leave of absences from work. I would like to help take the financial stress out of the equation for them so they can put all their time and energy into Carter, Drew and their family along with this journey.

We truly appreciate all the thoughts, prayers and gestures thus far and will continue to need them as they move forward with this journey.
