Carter’s Battle with FAP
Donation protected
This wonderful man is our son in law Carter! Carter has recently been diagnosed with Pancreatitis and Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP).
Familial adenomatous polyposis is a rare genetic mutation of the Adenomatous Polyposis Coli (APC) gene. FAP causes an over growth of Polyps that have a 100% chance of turning in to Colorectal Cancer.
Carter was told that he has over 100 polyps in his stomach and over 200 in his colon. He was told he will have to have his entire colon removed. This is a two year process with several surgeries ahead. Surgery one will consist of the removal of the Colon, Gallbladder, and set up of his Ostomy. After his body has healed a second surgery will be to make a J-pouch, which is a pouch made from the small intestine that will hold stool, so it can be eliminated normally. Surgery three will be where the small intestines is connected back together and then once it is healed and it will function properly, he will go back in again to have the Ostomy removed and stoma closed up.
Carter is expected to be out of work without pay for awhile, and will have multiple doctors appointments, surgeries, and screenings. He will have to be monitored yearly as he is at risk for developing more polyps, tumors, and other cancers.
I can’t tell you enough how wonderful, selfless and caring this young man is! He has served in the army over seas, he serves his community as a Police Officer, and he drops everything to help family and friends when they are in need. We are asking for help because he is the sole income provider for his family of 5. We don’t want him to worry about finances, we just want him to be able to focus on himself for once and to get better!
If you are able to help out that is wonderful, if you can’t it’s ok just say a prayer for him and his family, and hit the share button. Everything that’s donated will help cover expenses incurred while Carter undergoes his surgeries and recovery, and to make sure his wife Krystal, our daughter, will be able to stay by his side while he is in the hospital. Thank you so much and god bless.
