The Antelope Valley Squad Club would like to solicit your support for one of our own California Highway Patrol officers, Carter Howell, in his fight against cancer!
Carter is an United States Army veteran, husband, father of 3 school-aged children, and die-hard Dodgers fan. He was recently diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Follicular Lymphoma on his spinal cord. This has severely limited the movement and feeling in his legs due to the constriction of his vertebrae. Carter is also currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. Although he appears to be winning his battle against cancer, he faces a long road to regaining his ability to walk, run, or move around without difficulty.
A little bit of background that does not do Carter justice.....Carter is universally respected and held with the highest esteem by his peers here at Antelope Valley CHP. He is a true throwback to the toughest men from our country's most respected generations. He "embraces the suck" and suffers so quietly, that no one, save his friends, are aware of the pain he is enduring. He is as reliable and positive a man as there ever will be. There are no excuses with Carter, only positivity and a perpetual willingness to do what needs to be done. And as great as he is as a coworker, he is an even better father.
Carter is a homeowner here in Lancaster, CA. He started a flooring project in his family home shortly before his diagnosis, but could not finish it. All of the flooring throughout his entire house is currently torn out, and in its place, is uneven concrete. As you can imagine, this is not a surface conducive to rehabilitation and walking with the assistance of a walker. We, the AV Squad Club, feel obligated and compelled to do something for our brother, who we love.
We ask that you please show support for Carter and his family during this difficult time by donating to the campaign to install flooring in the Howell home. We truly believe this will not only greatly help Carter's recovery, but it will give peace of mind to his family.
