Hi, my name is Shakesha Williams. I am a writer, director, and producer. I am raising money for my latest project "Carter and The Queen". We are currently in development and I am so excited about this project.
"Carter and The Queen" is about Assistant D.A. Eunice Carter and Wealthy Numbers Runner Stephanie St. Clair aka Madame Queen, two Black women in the 1920s and 30s, who battled against the mafia in New York City.
This ripped-from-the-headlines story is not one often told in Hollywood. Two Black women, who in the early 20th century took on some of the most infamous and highly profiled men in the country.
In real life Eunice Carter was New York City's first Black woman Assistant District Attorney. She was instrumental in the arrest and prosecution of Mobster Lucky Luciano.
Stephanie St. Clair, known respectfully as Madame Queen, was one of the richest numbers runners in Harlem. She took on the infamous Dutch Schultz, who wanted to take over Madame Queen's business.
We are currently optioning the rights to the Eunice Carter story and need $6,500 to complete the transaction. With your help, we can option the book and begin pitching the idea for the series to Hollywood.
I am excited about this and cannot wait to share videos, and updates with you on this journey to making Carter and The Queen!!!
