Carter Johnston Ricke Medical Expenses

Carter Johnston Ricke was born on November 13,2023 at 10:47pm. He weighs 5lbs 7oz and is 19 1/4” long.

During pregnancy, Carter was diagnosed with a vascular malformation in his brain. For many weeks, this remained stable. On Monday November 13th we found his ventricles had become very enlarged. This caused us to have a C-Section right away.

When Carter was born, he was taken to the NICU at Chandler Regional Hospital. He was not able to breathe on his own and was placed on oxygen. Due to the previous brain diagnosis, an ultrasound was done on Carter’s brain. The findings resulted in Carter being transferred from Chandler Regional Hospital to Phoenix Children’s hospital.

Once at Phoenix Children’s, we had an MRI in which we discovered Carter had endured a ruptured aneurysm. He will undergo a procedure to put a drain in his brain to drain the excess fluid from his brain. After that we will see if we are able to address the bleed by doing another procedure.
