Carter Steven Howe was born July 3, 2017 7 weeks premature.  Not only was he tiny, but he was diagnosed with Iccthyosis, a very rare genetic disorder that affects  many organ systems beginning with his skin. Doctors told his family his chance of survival was slim, and if he did survive he wouldn't live the life of a normal boy.  The odds were not in his favor. But this tiny baby had so much strength and fight in him that after only 3 weeks in the NICU he was eating without assistance, he was growing, and he was going home to his mom, dad and big brother! Many follow up doctors appointments proved yet again Carter's profound strength and determination. He was progressing beyond what they could hope for and although not on the average baby timeline, he was developing normally. He in fact was a normal healthy baby boy! For 19 months his family watched him grow bigger and stronger. His smile and giggles could turn anyone's bad day bright.  After just 19 months Carter gained his angel wings on March 2, 2019. Days earlier he started coming down with a cold and after he wasn't getting any better his parents took him to the doctor in Waukon. There, he was diagnosed with pneumonia and transferred to LaCrosse. He fought with all his strength but sadly this was a battle he wasn't able to win. This unexpected tragedy will leave a grave financial burden on his family. We are looking for any and all help for funeral expenses and would appreciate anything your heart urges you to give.
