Carter Campbell

Hey everyone, 

As most of you know I am Carter’s older sister; Myra. I am raising money on behalf of my little brother, my mom, and my dad.

To give you guys a little background of what’s going on -

When Carter was born, he was born with a missing flap on one of his valves in his heart. As a family when he was born, we were told that eventually Carter would have to undergo heart surgery. Well 16 years later, back in July of 2020, we received news that Carter’s heart had grown a few centimeters and that we would need surgery. Scheduled surgery date came quick; Sept. 28th, 2020. Carter made it through surgery amazing and recovered amazingly. It was way too good to be true.

A couple days ago he told us he was feeling pressure on his chest and discomfort, I told him he might’ve slept on it wrong, etc. well as the day went on he became sick and was in a lot of pain at this point. The next day (Dec. 16th) Carter was taken by our mother to McLeod ER in Florence, SC. There they ran some scans, tests, x-ray, etc. and found what looked to be a tear near one of his valves. Carter was then sent by ambulance to MUSC in Charleston, SC that night  

MUSC then ran more tests, etc. and found that Carter had an aneurysm on and/or near his heart and would need immediate surgery. We also found out he has infection in/on his heart, so everything that is infected has to be replaced. 

Carter as well as our family had no idea this would happen, and we’re not prepared at all for this. Anything at all helps my family out tremendously. Even if it’s just prayers. 

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. 

Since i've last updated, Carter has had two more additional heart surgeries due to the bacteria. The bacteria destroyed all the work that had been done. 

I am now making an update as of 2/16 - Carter is going into another surgery tomorrow morning (Feb 17th) He developed another pseudoaneurysm - the ongoing bacterial infection has caused this. The antibiotics that he was put on for this bacteria, takes quite some time to kill all of the bacteria. A couple days ago Carter developed a very high fever, and knew something wasn't right again.
In tomorrows surgery (BTW THIS IS HIS 5TH ONE) the Cath Lab is going to try to go in and "plug" the aneurysm, if the hole is too big or if his Homographic valve has thinned - he will have to go into another heart surgery. OR room and surgeons and surgical team are on stand-by to immediately get him into OR if need be. Please continue to pray for Carter, please pray the surgical team fixes him, please pray the cath lab is able to plug up his pseudoaneurysm. 

Prayer warriors; please keep all of the prayers, love, strength, and support coming. Carter needs it all!!! please please please keep our family in your prayers.

PLEASE GOD HEAL CARTER, PUT YOUR HAND ON CARTER'S HEART AND THE SURGICAL TEAM. PLEASE GET CARTER HEALTHY AND HEALED. GOD YOU ARE SO GOOD, PLEASE RID ALL OF THE BACTERIA THAT IS PRESENT AND PLEASE FIX HIM UP TO CONTINUE TO LIVE THE REST OF HIS LIFE HEALTHY!!!!!

Update as of 5/24:

Carter has been admitted back into MUSC of Charleston due to another pseudo-aneurysm forming. No information yet as to what the surgeons are going to do to fix the issue.
