Hey dear community,

On normal days, I usually share joyful things with you like travel recommendations. This time, the worst has happened, and I am trying to help a dear friend of mine.

Michal Rain is my soul friend from our PhD days. We were in the same lab at the Weizmann Institute.

It started with working on a joint project, and very quickly it turned into a close friendship.

We even shared two maternity leaves together during our PhD.

We shared a nanny for our daughters, and we enjoyed supporting our techie husbands, letting them stay late at work while we had fun together in the evenings with dinner and joint baths for the kids.

On December 24th, Aryeh Rain, a reserve tank officer who was called up from the first day of the war in Gaza, was killed by an anti-tank missile in Gaza.

Aryeh Rain was the husband of Michali, my dear friend. He was romantic and loving, and Michali lost her best friend and life partner.

Aryeh Rain was the father of Shaked (Shkedon), Carmel (Carmelon), and Gefen (Gafnotucha), the best friends of my daughters. He was a warm dad and a full partner with Michal in raising the children.

Aryeh Rain was loved by everyone, valued, contributed to the community, and loved the Land of Israel.

From the beginning of the war, I used to ask Michal daily how she was coping alone, and she would answer that she was surviving.

Michal and Aryeh moved last month to their new home in Kibbutz Mishmarot near Pardes Hanna-Karkur. The picture is from the new house. He came home three times during the fighting, once during the move, and two more times, including lighting a Hanukkah candle.

Like many of you, every morning until that dreadful morning, I opened the news with fear to find out who was killed.

Since December 24th, the light has gone out for the dear Rain family, and I am trying in my small way to find a way to ease even a little of the heavy suffering of Michal and the girls. I wanted to come now during the winter break, but I am waiting for a green card and unfortunately cannot leave the US in the foreseeable future.

So I am turning to you to bring Michali and the girls here for the summer vacation.

I discussed it with Michal, and she would be happy to come with the girls in the summer to us here and do what now seems impossible, for us all to travel together.

The plan is for them to come for two weeks to a month, during which they will stay with us part of the time and part of the time we will travel with a large RV for nine people or rent a large cabin. A celebration.

When the time comes, I will ask for your help to plan the route.

This trip is indeed a luxury, but right now it means a lot, and it is very important to me.

I am trying to raise $10,000 for the trip. All funds raised will go directly to Michal.

היי קהילה יקרה,

בימים רגילים אני נוהגת לשתף אתכם בדברים משמחים כמו המלצות לטיולים. הפעם קרה הנורא מכל ואני מנסה לעזור לחברה יקרה שלי.

מיכל ריין היא חברת נפש שלי מהדוקטורט. היינו באותה מעבדה במכון ויצמן.

זה התחיל מעבודה על פרוייקט משותף, ומהר מאוד זה הפך לחברות הכי קרובות.

אפילו חלקנו ביחד שתי חופשות לידה במהלך הדוקטורט.

חלקנו מטפלת לילדות שלנו, ונהננו לפרגן לבני זוגנו, ששניהם הייטקיסטים, להשאר בעבודה עד מאוחר בזמן שאנחנו מתקתקות בכייף ביחד ערבים של ארוחת ערב ומקלחות משותפות לילדות.

ב24 לדצמבר, אריה ריין, קצין שריון במילואים אשר גויס מהיום הראשון למלחמה בעזה נהרג מפגיעת נ״ט בעזה.

אריה ריין היה הבעל של מיכלי, החברה היקרה שלי. הוא היה רומנטי ואוהב ומיכלי איבדה את החבר הכי טוב שלה והשותף שלה לחיים.

אריה ריין היה האבא של שקדון, כרמלון וגפנוצ׳ה החברות הכי טובות של הילדות שלי. הוא היה אבא חם ושותף מלא עם מיכל בגידול של הילדות.

אריה ריין היה בנאדם אהוב על כולם, ערכי, תורם לקהילה ואוהב את ארץ ישראל.

מתחילת המלחמה הייתי שואלת את מיכל על בסיס יום יומי איך היא מתמודדת לבד, והיא הייתה עונה שהיא שורדת.

מיכל ואריה עברו בחודש שעבר לבית החדש שלהם בקיבוץ משמרות שליד פרדס חנה-כרכור. התמונה היא מהבית החדש. הוא הגיע שלוש פעמים במהלך הלחימה, פעם אחת במעבר, ועוד פעמים שכללו הדלקת נר בחנוכה.

כמו ודאי רבים מכם, כל בוקר עד אותו בוקר נורא פתחתי חדשות בפחד לגלות מי נהרג.

מאז ה24 לדצמבר הנר כבה על משפחת ריין היקרה ואני מנסה למצוא בדרכי הקטנה דרך להקל אפילו במעט על הסבל הכבד של

מיכל והילדות. רציתי לבוא עכשיו בחופשת חורף אבל אני מחכה לגרין קארד ולא יכולה לצערי בעתיד הנראה לעין לצאת מארה״ב.

לכן אני פונה אליכם כדי להביא את מיכלי והילדות לפה בחופש הגדול.

ביררתי עם מיכל והיא תשמח להגיע עם הילדות בקיץ אלינו לפה ולעשות את הדבר שכרגע נשמע בלתי אפשרי, שנטייל כולם ביחד.

התוכנית היא שהן יבואו בין שבועיים לחודש, בהן חלק מהזמן הן ישנו אצלנו וחלק מהזמן נטייל עם קראוון גדול ל9 אנשים או שנשכיר בקתה גדולה. חגיגה.

כשיגיע הרגע עוד אעזר בכם כדי לתכנן מסלול.

טיול זה אמנם מותרות, אבל כרגע זה המון, וזה חשוב לי מאוד.

אני מנסה לגייס לטיול 10 אלף דולר. כל הכספים שיגוייסו יעברו ישירות למיכל.
