In June 2025, after a year of continuous pain and repeated visits to the doctor and A&E searching for answers and being dismissed as “too young” and “ overly anxious” my partner Becky was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma (PMBCL). A 15cm tumour was found, and chemotherapy had to start immediately due to the aggressive nature and dangerous size of the tumour, pressing on both her lungs and heart.

Becky underwent intensive chemotherapy which we had hoped would be enough, but it hasn’t worked as we’d hoped, and the cancer remains with new sites recently appearing. Becky is now undergoing radiotherapy while we wait for CAR-T therapy in London, which is a vital and potentially life-saving treatment.

This situation has turned our lives upside down. Given how gruelling chemotherapy and treatment has been alongside the vulnerability of her immune system, Becky is understandably unable to work.

We now need to spend several months in London for treatment and care as this new innovative drug is not available in Northern Ireland. The cost of accommodation and living expenses is something which we need support with as myself and Becky’s family hope to be able to provide her with the necessary 24/7 care during her recovery.

I’m asking for help so that we can focus on what really matters right now, getting Becky through treatment and giving her the best possible chance to recover.
