Carson Crawford has been a shining example of persistence and perseverance in the face of adversity. With a diagnosis of Goldenhar Syndrome, Carson has endured over 15 surgeries in his life thus far. Goldenhar Syndrome is a congenital (present at birth) disorder that causes problems with eye and ear structure, as well as kidney and spinal development. In children born with Goldenhar Syndrome, bones in the face don’t grow normally during fetal development. The syndrome usually affects either only one side of the face, or one side worse than the other. In Carson's case, he was born without a right ear canal and arch.
Further issues included deficient mandibular growth that resulted in dental problems, as well as environmental and food allergies.
Rapid growth spurts and illness caused missed opportunities in resolving some of these issues earlier. Delays in surgeries also transpired because medical insurance denied much of the necessary treatment initially, therefore forcing numerous appeals before insurance would cover a portion of the necessary procedures.

In order for Carson to function as normally as possible, his family has sacrificed much. Carson has shown the martial arts community, and the community at large, what it means to "represent perseverance." He hasn't let set backs hold him down, and his family backs him all the way. His mother, Lynn, has been unable to work for the past 4 years due to cervical injuries sustained from being T-boned in a motor vehicle accident. Irregardless, she supports Carson being able to pursue his martial arts & tricking passion as much as possible. Unfortunately due to Lynn's disability & being unable to work, the medical bills pile up.
It is our hope that this GoFundMe account will be able to relieve some of these costs for Carson and his family. We truly admire this young man and all that he and his family represent. Please consider helping them!
