Carson Ward's NICU Journey

Nick and Jodi (Sandgren) Ward welcomed their third child, Carson Nicholas Ward, into the world on August 5th, 2023 at 32 weeks gestation. Carson had to be taken via emergency c-section at The Mother Baby Center at United and Children's Minnesota, as his breathing and heart rate was sporadic inside the womb. Carson made his entrance seemingly healthy, however, things made a quick and very scary turn as he suffered from a seizure hours after birth. Since then, Carson has gone through multiple MRI's, tests and medications to stabilize him and get the answers needed to improve his overall health. As of yesterday, Nick and Jodi were notified that Carson will undergo brain surgery today (August 22nd, 2023) as the ventricles are filled with fluid and are unable to drain themselves due to built up scar tissue. Throughout this journey, Nick and Jodi have not been working and will quickly be met with overflowing bills and unexpected expenses that go along with having a child in the NICU.
