Hurricane Ian was nothing short of total devastation for many residents in Florida, one being a very close friend of ours, Cindy. In early July of this year, she moved from Louisville, KY, to North Port, FL., to pursue her dream of living near the beach. As many of you know, Hurricane Ian caused many to lose their homes and possessions, and sadly some lost their lives. Cindy, her close friend and her fur babies (dog Buddy and cat Athena) were trapped inside her home in North Port, FL. from Wednesday until Friday. After two days of the scariest times she’s ever had to endure, a very close friend of her’s who lives in Venice was able to come and rescue them on Friday afternoon.
After talking to Cindy Friday evening, hearing her voice and knowing that she was safe was a sense of peace. As you can imagine, Cindy was overwhelmed and very emotional after enduring such a tragic event. She shared the following, “I have never been that scared in my entire life. Watching a hurricane pummel your house for ten straight hours, as storm waters rush in and rise, and the ceiling collapses.”
Thankfully Cindy, her close friend (someone I consider an Angel) and her animals made it out alive. The aftermath of this tragic event will be a long road of restoration for her and many others. Cindy has lost all her belongings and is currently without a home, but she has not lost hope. At one moment during the storm, she stepped into the water off her bed for the first time and saw a picture floating near her shoes that read, “When you see only one set of footprints, it is then that I carried you.” Her support group is asking for love and prayers to be sent her way.
With love and prayers, it would be beneficial if everyone would consider contributing to help her during this rebuilding time. For monetary support, you can donate to Cindy's GoFundMe account. Thank you in advance for all your love and support.
