This campaign is to honor Valencia "Ohrah" McKinney. How exactly, do we honor someone like Ohrah? Someone with a smile like sunshine, the voice of an angel, a personality sweet like honey, and a spirit sent from heaven. We don't know for sure. But at the least, we would like to do the things that were meaningful to her.
Before Ohrah passed, she had many extraordinary things happening in her life. She was scheduled to graduate from the University of Missouri, Science and Technology with her Bachelors in Engineering Management in 2017. She had just pledged Delta Sigma Theta in 2016. She had also just been hired by Ford Motor Company. She was a brilliant and motivated young lady with many dreams and aspirations. And volunteering was a major part of her life. In addition to all of this, Valencia, was extremely excited and energized about a project she started.
For the past few years, Ohrah had participated in a youth conference in Israel. These conferences left her inspired to say the least. So much so, she decided she wanted to take Sunshine and the East St. Louis Community Performance Ensemble to Israel, to partake of the same life changing experiences she had encountered. Ohrah chose this group, because she had been a part of this group because she had been a part of this group, dancing and performing, since she was a young girl. Ohrah deeply wanted to bridge the two things that had been most influential in her life. By doing this, Sunshine and the group would share the beauty of the African Culture of Drum and Dance, and in turn, the group will have the opportunity to travel abroad, explore life, and be exposed to the wonders of The Holy Land.
So we are asking friends and family to help us make this dream a reality. We appreciate any donation, big or small. We will be taking this trip at the end of May and will post our progress and pics as we go. Ohrah Valencia McKinney would GREATLY appreciate every one's support.
