Hi everyone, my name is Ferlyn Joy Inocencio (Daughter of Elena Abuan Viloria). I’m reaching out as we honor and remember my mom during this incredibly difficult time.
In April of 2024, we found out that my mom had stage 4 pancreatic cancer that had already spread to her lungs, liver, bone, and chest wall. Chemo was her only option, and doctors told us she might have just 1 to 3 months. But my mom refused to accept that timeline. She wanted to use every bit of her strength to keep pushing forward because she couldn’t bear the thought of leaving her kids - especially her 10-year-old son and newborn grandchild - so soon.
Through so much prayer, faith, and her own unbelievable willpower, she far outlived those odds. She got to celebrate her 50th birthday, be there for my daughter’s first birthday (her first grandchild), and even traveled to the Philippines earlier this year to visit family one last time.
After that trip, she decided to stop chemo because it had become too much - she wanted to truly enjoy life and soak up precious moments with us. She was able to watch my daughter turn one, a memory we’ll hold close forever. Toward the end of May, her body began to slow down, but her spirit stayed just as strong and full of love.
On June 30, 2025, she passed away peacefully, with her husband and all three of her children by her side, holding her hand.
Mom had this rare kind of beauty that shone from the inside out. Being around her felt like standing in warm sunshine. She loved to dance to any song, turning even simple moments into memories we’ll never forget. Her laughter was so contagious you couldn’t help but laugh too. The thing I’ll cherish above all else is how she made people laugh and feel so loved. Her kindness was so pure and heartfelt that being near her made you believe in the goodness of people. She didn’t just light up our family’s lives - she had a way of welcoming everyone in. Friends, coworkers, neighbors - of them felt her warmth, her laughter, and her generosity.
Losing her has left a hole in our hearts that can never be filled. While we’re doing our best to hold each other up, the unexpected costs have added stress during an already painful time.
So many people have reached out asking how they can help. Any help at all, even just sharing this page, means more to us than we can say. Every donation brings us closer to giving her the beautiful goodbye she deserves and eases the weight on our family’s shoulders.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for caring about our family. Knowing so many people loved her too brings us comfort. We’ll never forget your kindness. We know God is welcoming His angel home, but here on earth, we’ll carry her gently in our hearts forever.
