Urgent help needed during a Covid Crisis! Gerald was born and raised in Greenville and is an immensely valuable and beloved community member, activist, and friend.

Gerald was exposed to someone diagnosed with Covid-19 who waited several days before disclosing this on 7/14. Due to this exposure, he has been unable to work for the past two weeks and is struggling financially.

Gerald is struggling with alcoholism and has decided to take the step to check himself into a detox and rehabilitation program. He is currently waiting for a bed to open up at a 5 day detox program so that he can safely enter a rehabilitation center to stay for several months.

We are seeking $2400 total in support for Gerald. This amounts to four weeks of full time work at a living wage of $15/hr. Donations will cover:
1. Two weeks of lost income due to exposure to Covid-19
2. One week of impending lost income for detox
3. One week of safety net income for moving and potentially for job hunting

Gerald will be able to work during his stay at the rehabilitation center, however, checking into detox for 5 days may put his employment at risk. We also know that there are costs associated with checking in to a facility like this. Finally, we don't know what his living situation will look like when he checks out or if he will have a room to go back to at his current house.

Funds raised will cover:
-Personal care
-Food and safe shelter
-Travel expenses to detox and the rehab facility
-Moving expenses upon completion of the program
-Costs associated with detox and rehabilitation
