My name is Hershel Carroll and I live Caryville, Tennessee. I’m married with a wife and three young girls ages: 2, 6 and 7. On September 9th, 2023 my family was overcome by a tragedy that destroyed our home and automobile. During a recent heavy storm and in the dark of night, a very large tree fell on our home which caused the entire roof and parts of the floor to collapse. The roof collapse separated the five of us and for a time; I had no idea if or how any of us could have survived as the tree crashed through areas of the house where we spend family time together. I was briefly pinned down by a large branch and unable to move. My wife Kaitlin and I were able to climb through the house and tree to find our children and escape the crumbled structure into the rainy night. By the grace of God, none of us were severely injured.

Our entire home, my truck, and all our belongings were destroyed by this storm and falling tree. We are currently living with my wife’s parents. At this point, I don’t know how we will recover from this tragedy. I’m grateful to my co-workers that helped me clear some of the tree branches to expose my truck that was destroyed, others that have offered support, the opportunity to ask for your help here, and the knowing the glory of God first hand.
