Hello, my name is Jessica Carroll. I am a mother of two amazing children, Jason (19) and Jasmine (16), that I couldn't be more blessed to have in my life. And of course there is my husband, Jordan, who has been by my side through thick and thin, sickness and health, for 22 long, memorable years.
My family means the absolute world to me and being here for them as long as I can be is the most important thing to me. There is still so much that I need to experience with them. While this is what means most to me, it isn't always so easy to accomplish...
About a year ago I became ill, my doctor did some testing and found that I had an 11mm sized tumor on my uterus. 6 months later that single tumor grew to 28mm and there were now multiple clusters of tumors along my uterus. The tumors cause me tremendous and constant stomach pain, swelling, nausea, and vomiting. Even through all of this I am committed to my family and helping my amazing husband provide for my family, so I force myself to go into work every day as if nothing is wrong. But there are times where the pain is too much and I'm left with missing work hours. The only thing that I can do is get an abdominal hysterectomy to remove these tumors and to ensure that I don't have any additional tumors that have spread to other parts of my organs.
With the insurance that I have, my family currently has a $6000 deductible to meet before my insurance covers anything. And with a 6 to 8 week recovery period after surgery, we are concerned with affordability. Our main concern is being able to cover the deductible before my surgery date. At the moment we are about $3500 to $5000 short on our deductible to cover my surgery costs.
My surgery date is April 22nd, 2019, and it is approaching quickly. I pray that my family and I can raise the money necessary to bring this great stress and pain off our shoulders and bring us back to peace of mind in knowing that I can continue to fight on and be there for my family for many years to come.
