Carrie's Dream Scholarship

Every year, Carrie's Dream puts on a community show in order to raise money for scholarships in the Santa Cruz area. Normally we raise between $30,000-$40,000 dollars which helps, but does not completely fulfill the amount of scholarships that are applied for.

In the past, the majority of funds raised comes from ticket sales. This made our virtual show and fundraiser especially hard this year. Despite all the complications and challenges that came from changing the format, we are thrilled to announce that we raised over $17,000 through private donations, sponsorships and auction sales.

While we are so proud of the work we did, we also know that it isn't going to come close to covering the scholarship needs of our community. We are asking for your help in order to makeup the difference by donating whatever amount you are able to. Our costs as an organization this year were incredible barebones so literally 100 percent of all donations through this campaign will go directly to fund scholarships for kids in the Santa Cruz dance community.

More information about Carries Dream: Carrie’s Dream Scholarship Fund Project was founded in 2014 as a tribute to Carrie Dianda McCoid. Carrie had a dream that all the students in our community who wanted to dance would be given that opportunity, regard- less of their financial circumstances. Carrie envisioned a collaborative annual dance showcase that would allow the community to come together to raise money for the benefit of aspiring dancers. For many dancers their dance studio is their home away from home; dance is the thing they are most proud of. Dancing requires team- work, leadership, dedication, physical and mental training as well as passion and perseverance- all immensely valuable skills that help keep our youth on the path to success in life.
