Carrie’s Fight: From Heart Attack to Cancer

Hello, friends.

My name is Kayleigh. I am starting this GoFundMe for my beautiful Aunt, Carrie Paxton.

Carrie has been in an uphill battle with her health since last year. On August 26th, she unfortunately had what they call a widow maker heart attack. By the grace of God, she survived that and is still with us. Fast forward to the end of February 2025, her next curveball was thrown. She started having issues with swallowing and swelling in her throat. After yet another episode of choking, she was transported by ambulance to the emergency department. From there, tests have been run, scans completed, and tons of bloodwork done. As of March 21st, she received the diagnosis of Large B-cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The big nasty C word. She will need to undergo multiple rounds of chemotherapy over the next several months. Thankfully, the doctors have caught it early and her prognosis is very good! However, since all of this started in August, Carrie hasn’t been able to work. She is the mother of four boys, two of them being in school and living at home. She is the sole provider for her children. And now she will be up and down the road for appointments and chemotherapy treatment. Since she hasn’t been able to work, the stress and worry of trying to make ends meet and pay her bills has become suffocating. Anyone who has had the privilege of knowing Carrie knows she would give you the shirt off her back. She has the biggest heart and would help anyone in need. She herself is now needing some help during this trying time. This is a whole new world for her, and financial struggle shouldn’t be something else she needs to navigate during this time.
