Since 2009, we have been neighbors and friends with Carrie (Mom) and Erin (Daughter). Erin and my kids went to school in Minooka together since the age of 7. I am starting this GoFundMe to help Erin cope, provide some support as she faces the emotional task of laying her mom to rest.

Carrie and Erin were inseparable, being just the two of them since Erin was a baby. They relied on each other through thick and thin and worked hard to make a happy life for themselves together. Carrie was smart, funny, a fighter and loved her daughter with everything she had. Erin’s grandparents were also so important to her as she grew up. Grandma Bridget was a familiar face in our neighborhood, always on the go, being an integral, strong, fun-loving member of this 3-generation woman trio. Unfortunately, Grandma passed away last year around this same time, and now, Erin sadly lost her mom.

For months, Erin fought to get Carrie the right healthcare treatment. She took care of her mom at home as best she could, unfortunately watching her quickly decline. Erin was her mom’s advocate, having to face healthcare delays and make difficult decisions on her own. She took the BEST care of her mom, as Carrie did for her solo since birth. Sadly, Carrie succumbed to her illnesses Friday evening with her loving daughter at her side.

At a young age like 23, having to arrange a parent's cremation is incredibly difficult and emotionally challenging alone. Having to think of potential challenges and an uncertain future is terrifying. Having experienced great loss in life, many can understand the immense stress and emotions she is feeling at this time. Erin is beyond heartbroken.

Erin is currently working two jobs and now handling her mom’s affairs while grieving a tremendous loss. Any donation would be a welcomed blessing to her, to provide some relief.
