Carrie Massive Stroke Fund

Donation protected
Hi, My name is Jaclyn and as most of you are probably aware my mom had a severe stroke on 5/12/23.

My niece and nephew, called me indicating Gram hit her head at 7am, which ultimately saved her life. EMS arrived on scene asap and made the determination to airlift Carrie to Upstate Medical.

She was in neuro ICU for 5 weeks. Her stroke effected 85% of the left side of her brain. The doctors indicated she'd likely never be off a ventilator. Carrie proved them wrong the next day and was able to breath on treach collar with oxygen. She also had a PEG (feeding tube) put in.

She was discharged on 6/16 to a facility that was not able to accept her due to her trach. This resulted in her being re hospitalized for at present another full week.

During this week, Carrie ripped her trach out. This has allowed her to eat on her own, and speak more. She does suffer from aphasia. She should be going to an acute rehab but her insurance doesn't cover the cost at present. Funds will go to cover medical expenses on Carrie's stroke path to recovery.
