Carrie Janell Hamner's Kidney Power Fund
Donation protected
Hello everyone! If you know Carrie, you know she is one of the kindest, most gentle souls. And right now, Carrie needs our help.
Right now, Carrie is recovering at home after being hospitalized last week due to a ruptured cyst and other complications related to her long term low kidney function due to her PKD.
As her kidney function has dropped below 20%, Carrie was just placed on the transplant list, and is working hard to find a living donor match for a hopefully successful transplant within a year.
Carrie is now on a very specific renal diet, which is generally low sodium, low potassium, low protein, low calcium and low phosphorus. Since this is so complex, she has had to set up a service from a specialized meal provider, Carrie's friend, Amelia. She will be preparing and delivering 2 meals a day through next week, and if you would like to contribute by "sending a meal", you can venmo her @ameliadamplo or else donate through here and we will allocate the funds to her. It's around $80/day and anything is very much appreciated.
Below is a little more about Carrie's condition and the next steps. In Carrie's words:
"I was diagnosed with ADPKD (polycystic kidney disease) 19 years ago. It's a genetic disease that is slowly degenerative. Thankfully, I am one of the 10% of patients who is a spontaneous genetic mutation, and no one else in my family has it (it doesn't skip a generation, and each biological child we have has a 50% chance of inheritance. We don't know if Matteo has it yet, but we're determined to support the research for a cure and do whatever it takes for him to have a healthy, long and pain/symptom free life."
Carrie and her family will need all the support they can get as they face the kidney transplant, which as you know will include very high medical bills.
If you can find it in your heart and your budget to donate to help, it would go a long way. Ever dollar makes a difference.
Please consider sharing with your friends and anyone you think might be interested in making a positive impact on Carrie's life.
Thank you for your consideration. We will continue to keep you updated as Carrie's condition progresses.
Please keep Carrie and her family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate their way through this next phase.
With lots of love and gratitude for your time,
Lauren Lobley - (on behalf of Carrie :) )
xoxo
