Support Carrie Everett's Memorial and Medical Expenses

Donation protected
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen Carrie Everett. The last nine months have been a battle, but we are grateful for the 22 years we had with her. We will be hosting memorial services for her in April in Washington and in May in North Carolina, to celebrate her beautiful life.

Carrie was born in the United States, but always yearned to return to Liberia, where our family is from, to meet our grandfather and extended family. In the case of her passing, her desire was to be buried in Liberia close to our family. So after her memorial services, our parents, George and Mary, will be flying with her to Liberia to grant her desire.

With this in mind, as well as large medical bills for her stay in the hospital, especially considering the cost of life support the last couple of weeks of her life, any funds raised will now go to paying her hospital bills, memorial costs, burial costs, and supporting our parents, as they haven't been able to work.

Thank you so much to everyone who's been with our family in this difficult time. Your donations, prayers, and shares of the fundraiser were instrumental in making sure Carrie had everything that she needed these last few months, and will be huge in helping our family after this loss.

"God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them."
Hebrews 6:10

-------

After serving for a year as Miss North Carolina, Carrie finished out her sophomore year of college. In July, she flew to Seattle to visit family for the summer. She started to experience intense bloating and coughing.

After multiple visits to the doctor, she was initially told she had pneumonia. On July 29th, scans found masses in her abdomen, the stomach lining was thickening, and enlarged lymph nodes. Blood work was done, and cancer markers were then found.

Some days later, she started coughing up blood, was rushed to the hospital, and admitted. A biopsy was done, and she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive gastric cancer, metastatic signet ring cell carcinoma.

She is now undergoing chemotherapy and other treatments. There have been many radical changes made to her lifestyle. We are now raising funds because her primary caregiver (our mother) will not be able to work adequate hours during this time. Medical treatment costs, food, travel, medication, and other living expenses have become a concern.

Thank you all for any support you’re able to give to help Carrie beat cancer! If you are unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing the GoFundMe and joining us in prayer!

"He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.”
