My name is Lilly, and I want to share my story with you.

I am a 40-year-old single mother to two incredible boys, both of whom face their own challenges due to disabilities. I am deaf, I have mild autism, But today, I'm reaching out to you because I need your help. I live with a condition called Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). It affects the way my brain communicates with my limbs, causing daily tremors, speech difficulties, and reliance on sign language for communication.this condition is not understood by many as I struggle to explain what FND is and it’s hard that anybody gets it. I I was born with Rubella syndrome, which has further impacted my vision, hearing, breathing, and muscle function. The nerve pain I experience is relentless, and it's only getting worse Recently, I received an official diagnosis of sight impairment.

i have moved into a housing association property that has no carpets or a shed. I struggle with my foot and leg, the bare floor affects my health and needing to have the heating on constantly I’m still trying to make this a home I recently had to pay for my own white goods because I was told I am not eligible for help with grants for carpets or even for a shed where I could store my wheelchair and I had to take out an advance with my universal credit to buy a fridge freezer and wait till I had money to get a cooker I’m still trying to make the boys and my room comfortable. I can’t have rugs down because I trip over them with my vision impairment and it’s horrible that the floors constantly dirty I’ve to keep cleaning when I come in and out with the wheelchair hence for the need to get a shed to store it outside. I’ve no storage room in my house for my chair I need help raise money for a shed also so I don’t have to bring in dirt into the house plus floor makes our feet dirty my youngest especially who has GDD ( global development delay) he takes his socks off all the time due to sensory sensitivity, I need to get carpets. My stairlift is yet to come in and handicare said carpets should be down first before it’s installed and that I’d have to pay for it to be lifted to put it back on over the carpet which is something I cannot afford to do. Ideally to get carpets put in asap as it’s affecting my children and my wellbeing.

You see,
My my left side is numb caused by a stroke because of my FND. Sadly I lost the use of my dominant hand and now I'm trying to re learn how to use my right hand.Qeq

I share my journey with the deaf community, advocating for resources related to FND in BSL.

But with your support, help me with getting carpets I was quoted nearly 3,000 for their cheapest carpet to do the carpets for the whole house this isn’t including my toilets, bathroom or kitchen.. with focusing on floorspossibly a shed to store my chair to keep the floors clean. Depending on what is leftover on the goal.

So, I'm asking for your help. Every contribution matters, and together, we can make this a warm home which will benefit my FND .the heating bills will be sky high if I don’t have my feet warm and the nerves in my foot and leg are difficult to control pain and the floors are too cold which affects my FND. With carpets would not only improve my health but my son’s safety from hurting himself by slipping or tripping over himself.

I would appreciate a small donation to help contribute towards my carpets, and shed.
thank you in advance

Can you help us?
Thank You

so far have started a possibility of doing the shed sooner than I think hopefully can get it erected after the first step of carpets on the stairs and landing so I can get my stairlift in then rest of rooms gradually. Only can do with what I am able to sort at a time.

thank you for your donations as they are appreciated to help us make a start! Please share and get the rooms finished.

my health is hard the Fnd is not dealing with the floors so well as it’s completely numb on my left with walking and managed to remove all loose damaged furniture out of my youngest room. Once carpets in there they’ll make it harder for him to move anything round. I don’t think I will have much in there to keep him safe. At the moment it’s work from progress learning what will be easier, global develment delay is not an easy condition to have with challenges of keeping him safe teaching him what he can and can’t do. Not many people understand it is as parents we learn what works

thank you again x
