After hearing what the Carpenter family was going thru we knew that we wanted to do something to help out! So we decided to create this page to allow people like you to donate to the Carpenters. My wifes name is Dena Carpenter, she is an R.N. at Rancho Springs Med. Ctr. in the E.R. she is 52 years old mother of 2 young girls Kassidy is 17 she is a senior at Murrieta Valley H.S. and Kaitlyn she is 13 and a freshman also at Murrieta Valley H.S.On April 9th 2014 Dena suddenly lost her eye sight to her left eye, there was no warning or anything, 2 day prior to the loss of her eye sight she had worked ( 2 ) 12 hour shifts at the hospital.After some extensive tests she was admitted to Loma Linda Murrieta on April 23-30 to try to treat the vision loss, she was released back home on the 30th, during the time she was home she began to experience the inability to move her left leg, we had an appointment with a M.S. specialist, he had ordered more test the results of the test showed that Dena may have M.S. but still more tests needed to be done, on May 15th Dena was admitted to Loma Linda University Med Ctr. were she remained until June 13th, she received a VERY extensive chemotherapy treatment to try to slow down the spread of the of what was thought to be M.S. while at the hospital the doctor order a few more tests and, on May 17th those tests came back with a different diagnosis she had a VERY RARE illness called ( NMO ) NEUROMYELITIS OPTICA. On June 13th Dena was transferred to a rehab facility in Sun City/ Menifee called Life care on for extensive physical, and occupational therapy.Dena is scheduled to be released from Life care and we are having to remodel the down stairs bathroom in order to accommodate her needs. Dena has to return to LLUMC in December for another treatment of Chemo.
