Carpenter and Beale Covid Fundraiser

Donation protected
This is a GoFundMe for my son Andrew Carpenter and daughter-in-law Jessica Beale Carpenter’s covid pneumonia bills. In the last seven weeks a lot has happened: Jessica and Andrew almost died from covid, Jessica’s parents passed away from covid complications, and eleven people from ours and Jessica’s family have had covid.
It all started with a birthday party for Jessica and her niece in July. Andrew unknowingly got covid from a coworker but thought he had the flu. All eight members of Jessica’s family(the Beale’s) were in attendance in addition to Andrew, Jessica and AnnaLynne. That week Jessica’s Father, brother and AnnaLynne started feeling bad. AnnaLynne just had cold symptoms and felt tired thankfully. Stewart, Jessica’s dad assumed he had a sinus infection and Josh, her brother, got pretty sick but his wife Janna who is a nurse cared for him. Janna got sick but was fine after a few days. Thankfully only Jessica’s nephew got sick and none of her three nieces. Andrew went and got a covid test that came back negative. Everyone assumed they had the flu or sinus infection. Jessica went in for her scheduled c section on August 5th and gave birth to EverlyJune. Her mom went with her because Andrew was very sick by this point. Jessica started running a high fever(107degrees) that would come down to normal after two hours. This happened several times. The hospital asked if she had been tested for covid only to realize she had not. Early in the morning the hospital came in saying she and EverlyJune tested positive for covid. That night Andrew was admitted into the hospital and came back covid positive. Jessica was sent home and went to her parents. Gradually she got sicker and five days after her c section, she called her sister in law to take her to the hospital because something was wrong. Janna took her to the hospital where she was admitted and put on a ventilator five hours later. Next Janna took Jessica’s dad Stewart to the hospital. Three days later Jessica’s mother Lisa was admitted to the hospital. Andrew and Jessica’s girls came to my house. While in the hospital Jessica received one pint of blood and was intubated four times. Andrew had a fever that spiked to 107degrees and we were told he might be brain dead. After eleven days for Andrew and thirteen for Jessica of being intubated, they woke them up. Upon waking up, both were unable to walk and had feeding tubes down their noses. Jessica had edema in a foot and calf, thrush in her throat and a nonworking vocal chord. Jessica still can only speak in whispers and won’t be back to normal for two or three months. Eventually Andrew and Jessica came out of isolation and the ICU to the covid ward and came off feeding tubes.
On August 28th, Jessica’s father Stewart passed away when his heart stopped while being intubated. Five days after being awakened, Andrew came home to our house, unable to walk or stand. That night Jessica was sent home. Both homecomings were not planned and unexpected. Andrew finally got to meet his second daughter, EverlyJune, twenty-six days after she was born. Upon coming home both Andrew and Jessica have had physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech for Jessica’s voice. While they are improving, the bills are piling up from the long hospital stay and many doctors and therapists they have seen. Lastly; Jessica’s mother Lisa who was the last to be hospitalized passed away unexpectedly on September twelfth.
