Carolyn’s Cause

Dallas is no stranger to helping those in need. Charities throughout the city are in place to help the homeless, those with disabilities, domestic violence victims and those with cancer and other physical issue. These listed are just the top of the iceberg.

Within every charitable group, there are a myriad of boards and committees set up. Those who sit on the boards and committees are responsible for the many needs that an organization has. Fundraising is the backbone of a charity’s success and financial help comes from grants, donations and fundraisers. Fundraisers rely on large groups of volunteers who put in countless number of hours to ensure an events success.

Those who start volunteering early in their careers find themselves affiliated with several different groups as time marches on. Carolyn Hrncir is one of those people. Raising two sons as a single mom and having a career in the telecommunications field, Hrncir made the time to serve charitable organizations such as Dallas Children’s Charities, Love for kids, Inc., Hoffen Children’s Charity, Supporters of Children’s Charities, Dallas Mayors Committee for the Employment of People with Disabilities, Night of Superstars, MDA, Veterans Charity Association and Byron Nelson Golf Classic/ Dallas Salesmanship Club. In addition, she is the sole source of support for her disabled younger brother who is in a long term care facility.

Now, Carolyn finds herself in need of help. In November 2014, she was rushed to the ER with excruciating pain in her leg. It turned out to be a life threatening blood clot. Constant immense pain led to several bouts of hospital stays and tests to determine the cause of the pain. When she started bleeding internally, a colonoscopy showed a rectal tumor that was malignant. After emergency surgery, she was diagnoses with Adencarcinoma of the rectum. Her chances of survival are good, but she has undergone extensive chemotherapy, with radiation to follow. How many rounds has yet to be determined.

A new job that began in September 2014 did not give her the needed time off and after finding she was unable to attend mandatory meetings as well as daily sales calls to reach her quota, Hrncir was terminated. She needs your help.

Medical expenses are skyrocketing at an alarming rate and then there are the ongoing monthly expenses that we all have. The cost of her COBRA alone is $579 per month. Her monthly expenses are over $4.200 per month and the medical costs are coming in at around $40,000 for chemo and radiation. Collections for the ER and hospital doctors at Baylor Plano have already started for $4.500, usually as she is getting treatment.

Carolyn’s Cause is seeking $60,000 in donations to keep COBRA in place and to offset her living expenses (rent, utilities, food, gas and car insurance) For someone who has helped so many, I hope you can see it in your hearts to help her as we try to get her well.

Thank you in advance and may God bless you for your generosity.
