Hi,
Pat, Joyce and I are fund raising for our sister Carolyn, who has been diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer.
After graduating from Hunter College Bellevue School of Nursing in the early 1970’s, Carolyn became a registered nurse in a career that spanned 45+ years. Our sister focused in the areas of emergency room, progressive care unit (PCU), discharge planning and case management. Carolyn worked first at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York for 20+ years and, after moving to Florida, at Martin Health System in Stuart. In 2020 Carolyn came out of retirement to go back into case management, which provided some relief to staffing needs during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In February 2023 Carolyn was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She has undergone one round of chemotherapy treatment and has started another. Our sister now finds herself with many expenses not covered by Medicare. As the illness has progressed, the expenses are far exceeding her fixed income. These expenses include chemo co-pays, prescriptions, nutritional needs, help with household tasks and in-home special equipment, which currently Carolyn is going without.
Any amount is appreciated as well as prayers to help Carolyn fight her battle against this terrible disease.
