Carolyn Thomas: "Save Yourself" Defense Class
Tax deductible
Domestic Violence Activist and Media Personality, Carolyn Thomas, is raising funds for her 3rd Annual Carolyn Thomas Foundation: “Woman Save Yourself” Self Defense Class. The event is scheduled during The National Domestic Violence Month of October, and will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the city of Houston, Texas.

Carolyn began offering the training course, two years ago, with the goal of equipping women with the tools to protect and defend themselves in times of attack, assault or crisis...a situation Carolyn knows all to well from experience.

CAROLYN'S STORY
Dubbed “The Woman without a Face” by the national media, fifty-four year old, former track star, Carolyn Thomas, survived a near fatal shooting, at point blank range, on December 5th, 2003. Carolyn’s former boyfriend, Terrence Kelly, also shot and killed her beloved mother, Janice Reeves, before shooting Carolyn, execution style, in the head. Carolyn lost 80% of her facial features, including her nose, in the tragedy and was left blind in her right eye.

Carolyn fought back to reclaim her life and her face by undergoing over a dozen operations over a 1 1⁄2 year period. During her reconstructive journey, Carolyn also gathered her courage to face her abuser in court, for the first time since the brutal attack, and was instrumental in putting him behind bars for life.

Though she barely survived the blast that destroyed her appearance, Carolyn believes she was spared to help educate others about the dangers of abusive relationships. “God allowed me to survive for some reason and I just had to learn how to be strong.”
