Carolyn Sperling, 86, died March 2nd, 2022, with family by her side in Eden Prairie, MN.

She fought a long hard battle against Vascular Dementia. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She taught us how to love unconditionally, show compassion, have patience, persevere, do our best, love nature, have fun, and laugh often. She loved making holidays and birthdays special family time. She loved gardening, reading novels, birds, all wildlife, traveling- especially to Lake Superior, cards, casino games, art, music of many types, and good coffee/tea. Carolyn was an extraordinary elementary teacher of 30+ years, piano teacher, mentor, and someone to be admired for her continuous strive toward excellence. She leaves a void in our hearts that will never be filled. We were all blessed to have known such a beautiful soul.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Roger Sperling; children, Christi Ann Mallinger (Michael), Robert Sperling, Lisa Sperling (Jane Gaut), Paul Sperling (Beth Squires); 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Elsie and Earl Roopenian.

Carolyn loved visiting Como Zoo and Conservatory, with family, throughout her life. In her later years, she frequently visited the MN Landscape Arboretum to enjoy the beautiful outdoors with her children and grandchildren. In Carolyn's name, the family plans to donate a chair/bench to the Japanese Garden at Como Park or the MN Landscape Arboretum. Any additional funds will help support a celebration of life event to be held in early Summer.
