Caroline’s Battle with Brain Cancer

Caroline Williams is a young mom to a vibrant toddler, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a business owner and a friend to so many.

Around 17 weeks pregnant with her second baby girl, she began to develop fogginess and issues with speech. At first she chalked it up as pregnancy brain but finally decided to go to the hospital to be checked out. At first doctors at Tampa General Hospital thought her symptoms clearly meant stroke. That seemed to check out with her elevated blood pressure since her first birth. An MRI revealed a large spot on her brain and the Dr’s seemed confident that it was blood.

Caroline went back home to heal and be with her daughter, Lily and her husband, Jason.

Caroline seemed to be improving with her first speech therapy session but quickly her speech and cognition deteriorated. Jason whisked her back to to the hospital and a new scan showed that the mass had almost doubled. She was prepped for emergency brain surgery. Best case scenario they would repair a bleed, worst case it could be a tumor of unknown type.

6 hours and 23 staples later Jason delivered the unimaginable news that the source was a malignant tumor.

Pathology has confirmed that what she and her family are facing is a Grade 4 Glioblastoma.

Glioblastoma is a reoccurring cancer that is the most aggressive of all brain tumors.

Caroline will urgently be rushed into a series of therapies including chemo, radiation and more surgery.

On top of this, she has shuttered her 12 year old Thai massage business, Bala Thai, based in Seminole Heights (Tampa).

Caroline and her family need financial support for the following:

Hospital bills (hospital stays, workups, surgery)

Chemotherapy

Radiation

Childcare

Loss of Income

Caroline has brought health and healing to so many through her words and her actions.
