The accident on July 4th - Caroline fell off her skateboard, hit her head on the street and showed signs of a traumatic brain injury.
The ER - She had to be intubated & put on a vent due to a poor verbal assessment, meaning she couldn't respond verbally, just responded with touch stimuli on hands & feet.
Moved upstairs to Neuroscience ICU - after CT scan showed basal skull fracture on the left side, and some brain contusions/bleeding, the decision was made to put a tube in the front of her brain to relieve pressure & drain fluid.
Intubation & sedation - She has been under sedation & on a vent since she arrived.
July 7 - Caroline's ICP keeps fluctuating to the point that the best option is to do surgery. The neurosurgeon needs to remove a portion of her skull to allow more room for her swollen brain.
