Hello, my name is Ruth; I am setting up this Go Fund Me page in the hopes of easing some of the financial debt due to my mother’s medical bills which have accrued in the past few years as she battled cancer. Sadly, my mothers fierce battle with cancer has also impacted my parent’s income as my father is no longer able to work in order to attempt to care for my mother. My mother’s condition has substantially deteriorated in the past few weeks; though she lives many states away with my father, I feel blessed that I was able to go down there these past few weeks and sit with my mother and father to provide them with as much support as I could.

Though my mother’s battle with cancer started a few years back, we were in constant prayer and hope that matters would not get this bad. By this point, my mother has had multiple surgeries, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.

By the end of October of 2022 my mother and father were told that the chemo treatments were not working and would have to stop. My parents and our family were not ready to give up… they were able to find another doctor that could continue more treatments which included targeted radiation and oral medications. However , once again, they were told that treatments would stop and her cancer was terminal.

In December of 2022, right before Christmas, my mother was checked into the hospital to fight a severe infection that was deeply embedded in her wounds that developed from the rapid progression of the cancer eating away at her.

Currently, my mother’s wounds are so deep that her femoral artery is exposed; should the cancer (and the concurrent infection she is also battling) continue to eat away at her, the Drs have advised that this artery can burst, at which point there will be nothing that could be done to save her.

My mother, who was once the most active woman I knew, is currently laying in a hospital bed unable to feed herself or do anything we can take for granted. My father who was working a full time job has been by her bedside and not able to work. Prior to this he was constantly running home from work to rush my mother to the ER due to compounding complications. My parents do not have the best insurance so a lot of the bills are coming directly to them; with my father not able to work due to her complex condition, these monumental bills have continued to pile up alongside their day-to-day bills.

My mother is an unforgettable presence; I am blessed to be her daughter. Though my parents live a humble life, they were always the type of people to give you the shirts off their backs. My mother has such a love for life and people, so I am still in a daze that we are here at this point. It is beyond difficult for me to see her like this… and to feel such helplessness in what I can do for them.
